WHAT EVERY
TEAM NEEDS:
Jan 10, 2011
I know what every team need - it is a new engines and I know what is better
then and new engine - it is a tested new engine. For the past three years
Kaosmotorsports has had an old very used engine and we have pushed the
old engine to the limits. Our engine was old before we started our 2008
rookie season and for the next two seasons we did not rebuilt it. The
work in past years off season has been focused on handling and getting
the car to turn. Changing the car from dirt, to perform on the pavement
was no easy job. For this off season our team is focus on a new engine
and getting the most out on the power plant. Just before Christmas we
unloaded our new engine. Engines are like sports cars - if it looks cool
you know it is fast. So the new engine looks very cool. Our old engines
are like sports car in some other ways, if you take one apart, you never
know how much it will take to put it back to gather. Having an old engine
as a spare is not a bad thing - just in case we have a problem, we will
have a fall back. A new engine brings new ideas of higher performing pumps
and pulleys, distributors and coils, -- O and brakes, we will need good
brakes. With a new engine comes new gear and power curves more fuel and
even more fuel. Making changes like this is a lot of work - and a lot
of fun, new problem to solve, new thing to fix.
SEASON OF WHAT
IF'S:
Sep 28, 2010
The 2010 version of the NCMA has come to a close and I would like to send
a hearty congrats to David Goodwill and the whole 3G racing team. David
has performed like a gentleman the entire year and as our champion, he
represents the best in all of us.
For the 77B team, we surely had a season of "what
if's". What if we had a new engine? What if we didn't lose the panhard
bar and a rear end in the first race? What if the rear end stayed in the
car for the next race? And "what if" the brakes did not fail
two different race nights OR I did not crash into three competitors on
the track, bending three axels? What if I drove a bit harder here or a
little less there?
We will never know because that's racing!
I need to say thank you. I am running on a barrowed rear end and drag
link. I have used, tires and fuel I never paid for and had no way to paying
for. What if I had not had the support of friends and family. What if
NCMA was not the great group of giving guys it is. And yes that's racing
too, helping each other in our time of need.
There are many factors that go into winning races. For us it just wasn't
in the cards this year. Championships for the #77B
team may still be in our future, we need to focus on constancy and improve
our finishes and cut out the "what if's", way before wins and
championships will be ours. Still I can say we finished fourth overall
in the championship. We improved our handling and our speeds, each week
running better and learning more. It was a year of trying new things and
finding the right setup for the conditions were racing in.
SO "What IF" we get our act together for next year?
KEEPING
THINGS IN
PERSPECTIVE:
Aug 26, 2010
I look at some other high risk sports
like base-jumping and free climbing and think they must be nuts. That's
because I could not do that; I lack the knowledge, the skill and the passion.
I hope those who may consider us to be somewhat crazy will respect that
we understand the risks; we are passionate about what we do and we are
professional in the way we go about our business.
A
Good Day for the KAOS Team -- Wining the Heat race
and the Dash.
